Classical Concert Special: The Los Angeles Philharmonic performs Dvorak & Bruch at Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday 1st September 2026. Awarded conductor Anja Bihlmaier conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in two of the greatest works of orchestral music written by two of the greatest composers of all time, performed outdoors at one of the world's greatest concert venues, the famous Hollywood Bowl, on one of the many great concerts of classical music performed by other top classical musicians in Los Angeles on 1st September 2026.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic is one of the most renowned and respected orchestras of the country. It consists of an enormous number of first-class musicians of great sophistication who perform the greatest pieces of orchestral music with sensitivity and energy. This season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the members of the orchestra present a variety of different programs and collaborations with many soloists of international stature as well as with artists from the field of contemporary music. The LA Phil performs in the concert hall of Walt Disney Concert Hall and at the legendary open air amphitheater Hollywood Bowl. The orchestra was founded in 1919 by Walter A. Foster and had conductors such as Heinz, Bernstein, Mehta, Jarvi, Ebert and many others. There are about 100 musicians in the orchestra, who as individualists, develop together a huge, fascinating and unique sound.
Anja Bihlmaier conducts Dvořák's symphonic masterpiece and Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 with leading soloist Kate Fischer in a program of two of the most beloved works in the repertoire. With brilliant interpretive vision, Bihlmaier brings both structural clarity and emotional wholeness to the orchestra's performances of standard compositions as well as to 20th-century works by contemporary composers. She serves as Chief Conductor of the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien. Bihlmaier studied at the University of Music in Karlsruhe with Friedmann, Schwandt, and later also with the legendary Sir Colin Davis at the University of Music in Hamburg. Since her opera debut in 2001, she has since then conducted at leading opera houses and concert halls around the world. As a conductor, she commands the utmost respect from her musicians and audiences alike.
