“Combine all the awesomeness of karaoke, movie theater, and costume parties, and it’s no wonder that throngs of people brave traffic and return year after year to the Hollywood Bowl to see a 52-year-old film that, in all likelihood, they have seen dozens if not hundreds of times,” Stage and Cinema shares.

Released in 1965, American musical film, The Sound of Music, held the record for the highest box office hit for five years. Its stunning photography and numerous catchy tunes, like "My Favorite Things" and “Edelweiss,” contributed to the film becoming a timeless classic. The three-hour long movie was nominated for several Academy Awards and continued to win five out of ten, including Best Director and Best Picture.

The live event will be hosted by American actress and comedian Melissa Peterman. During her early years in the industry, she worked as a writer and performer at the improvisational comedy theater, "The Brave New Workshop". She then made her acting debut in the 1996 Oscar-winning picture “Fargo,” directed by the Coen brothers. Conductor Mitchell Hanlon will also perform live along with the film through his expertise with the organ.

“It was a night when the old truths were honored: a commitment to family, the treasure of romance, and, perhaps most important, the simple joy of mocking others,” The Los Angeles Times shared from previous performances.
